God Wants To Talk To You!

Learn how to discern God's voice and follow His plan for your life

Inside every believer is the capacity to hear God's perfect plan of purpose and provision-like an internal compass that points us in the right direction and helps us make godly decisions. Here are some Biblical insights to help you discern God's direction.

First of all, realize that God has a voice. From the very start, God introduced Himself as a speaking God. "Then God said...(Geneses 1:3). God spoke the universe into being! He could have revealed any passages of Scripture. But God chose to reveal Himself as a master planner and communicator. God knows how to speak to His creation-and that includes you and me. In Genesis 3:8, Adam and Eve"...heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day..."(KJV).

Know that God speaks to us in our spirit. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God" (Romans 8:14). We communicate with God through our spirits. "The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Seaching all the inner depths of his heart" (Proverbs 20:27). This is why you must strive to become "spirit conscious." That inner compass I mentioned earlier is the Holy Spirit...that is how God speaks to our spirits. The Holy Spirit has the power to "stir your spirit" (Acts 17:16) and "to brind things to your spirit" (Acts 20:22). When God has a place or a job for you, He will bind or connect your spirit to it. Be sensitive to your inner compass.

Learn how to recoginize God's voice. When the United States Treasury Department trains people to recognize counterfeit money, they don't spend time educating them on what is fake. They focus on the real money. The more time they spend with the real thing, the more easily they will recognize the counterfeit. It's the same with you and me. The more time we spend "hearing" God's voice by reading His Word and praying, the more we will understand His true voice.

God has the insider information. He has a divine purpose for your life and a plan to get you there. He wants to place you in contact with the right people, at the right place for His right plan. Start praying and reading God's Word daily. ask Him to guide you. Pray for sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. When you do, you can rest in this promise-"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye" (Psalm 32:8).
